OUR MISSION AND VISION

INTRODUCTION

It is said that people construct their values and virtues with  everyday experiences. These become the strong bases of our personalities. In the formation of our character we would be able to see: young individuals that possess a developing maturity; intelligent beings regarding the pressure of taking relevant decisions; people developing an unconditional tolerance towards different opinions and beliefs; and humans that stress the importance of social conscience.

Our daily living is the best training we can receive in order to participate in the worldwide process of making decisions; our country´s politics, and even more, being able to construct a better future for the world. There are certain aspects in this preparation such as: learning the power of  dialogue; how to defend your opinion; how we can persuade someone without offending their point of view; how to speak correctly in front of a big audience.. always aware of the constant search for common well-being.

Regarding what we mentioned before, Model United Nations is the most gratifying experience that  current youth can have. It starts as a small experience that becomes a life style. Model United Nations not only teaches us how to dialogue but also how to search for solutions to current world problems in a quick and efficient way. This experience shows us a different perspective of the world, wider, bigger, more  realistic, yet and above all, human. It opens our minds and shows us how to establish interpersonal relationships that will construct excellent future leaders. It shows us that even though we are part of an ethnic group, race, or religion, above all we are part of HUMANITY.

For these reasons and much more, we feel grateful and lucky to have the privilege to belong to the Model United Nations Program. A model to follow, an example to imitate, an experience to live.

MISSION

  The Model United Nations program primarily emphasizes  the formation of young people to prepare them to face the conflicts of the world in which we live today. Besides being trained in the international policies of the nations of the world and of the functions of the United Nations, the Model United Nations members acquire a unique global perspective that sets us in a new  view of  the world in which we live.  The real success in Model United Nations is that young people learn to find solutions based on the consensus of the nations to help resolve the earth's conflicts.

  This program is an indisputable ally of democracy, and, in addition, it teaches people from an early age how to resolve problems by way of dialoguing and how to manage the peaceful confrontation of ideas. The idea of the Model United Nations program is to make the people feel as citizens of mankind. Another of the objectives of the Model United Nations program is to help people find their own common destiny so that they can assume their role and responsibilities as global citizens.

  We believe that with the vision and knowledge of the real worldproblems, we acquire virtues that help us resolve life's problems. We live on a very small planet, but we have something that makes us enormous. That is the bond between humanity, the brotherhood that exists between us. This is the capacity in which a regional problem becomes a problem of everyone of us, that it  becomes a global problem. Nations will no longer stand alone, because no matter the race, religion, or nationality, we still have something that unites us, and it is the equality that must exist between every human being.

VISION

As we start our Model U.N. career, we realize that we are the future of the world and of our nation.  As time passes we begin to feel this responsibility and it becomes our duty to prepare ourselves for this future. While this preparation is taking place, we begin to care more deeply about and to feel more interested in the world's problems and about the different ways to find the peace that  we all anxiously await.

Today, we students who belong to the M.U.N. program, have set as a goal to actively participate in the study and analysis of the many world problems we are living, and in the search for the possible solutions that can be presented in order to bring about prompt resolutions or conclusions. We also hope that the resolutions suggested  in our models can be taken into account by the United Nations, so that not only could our goals  be reached, but also that our greatest dream, which is to become real representatives of our country in the United Nations, could come true.

We know we are the future, but please let us also be the present, so that we can give to the world the opinion of us young people  anxious for world peace, and also willing to work to obtain it.
