It is amazing to see how BAMUN has grown. It all began eight years ago with only ten schools.  Yet with dedication, many of us have made it grow into a conference with more than 30 schools participating, including for the first time international schools. But BAMUN is not only its present, BAMUN VIII, but it is also made of all the past, the previous seven conferences.

WE should never forget that everything has its “behind the scenes”, activities, and without them, the final product would be completely different. BAMUN VIII is characterized by the hard work, responsibility, dedication, and passion of the many presidents, delegates, and faculty sponsors. Two months of all this “behind the scenes” preparation are the ones that will make this conference a great one.

This is why, during my path in MUN, I discovered that “The journey is the destination”. Although we all focus on a certain goal and work hard to achieve it, we should not forget that all the time and effort invested in past MUN experiences is equal to and as important as the product. I am sure you have heard these words before, but repeating them to you does no harm.  On the contrary, it helps you, for it raises your consciousness and allows you to apply it to your paths in MUN.

BAMUN is the perfect example for how past experiences shape each of us. Personally, I have learned that the months we spend preparing the conference for you are as enriching as the four days we are to live together. For six years I have been actively participating in MUN.   Unfortunately this is my last one. But I don’t look back and cry because it is over; I prefer to look ahead and smile because it happened. There are uncountable things I have learned because of MUN, but instead of telling them to you, I prefer that you discover them by yourselves.  It depends on you to absorb as much as possible in BAMUN, because I can assure you, there is a lot to learn here.

As Secretary General of BAMUN VIII all that is is left to say is “Welcome”. Enjoy the whole conference and the time you spend preparing for it. The whole staff has put all of their efforts into it for you to take advantage of. I hope you come prepared to make of BAMUN VIII the best BAMUN ever, not only academically, but value-enriching.

BAMUN VIII is my goodbye, and I am confident it will be a great one. DON’T IMITATE; INNOVATE.

If there is anything I can do to help you, don’t hesitate to contact me at my email danizulu91@hotmail.com

Sincerely,
