Library

The library at Marymount Barranquilla is an essential part of our community where we dedicate a space to imagination, research and fun. Its main objective is to offer its users opportunities to explore, create and transform new skills and experiences for life. We offer digital and physical bibliographic resources, access to information and technology, extracurricular spaces and safe recreation. We also develop programs that favor the formation of competent readers and self-directed learners who are ethically aware of their information needs, with the support of an international reference framework for school libraries. Each section has their own library, as well as classroom libraries in all classrooms.

Destiny Quest

Preschool Library

The Preschool library has a broad literary offer both in English as in Spanish, which allows our trainee readers, to start an apprach and interaction process with books in a free and spontaneous way, as well as through spaces of guided reading and/or out loud. In this way the little ones will start to fall in love with reading, and will interpret it as a ludic and entertaining activity, that will not only contribute to their reading process but to their academic development.

Elementary Library

The Elementary School Library offers our school community a variety of opportunities that allow our users to discover the magic of imagination, designing and implementing strategies and programs that develop both social and reading skills. These are some of the programs that take place: Scholastic Library Class, Reading Program, "Library Garden", D.E.A.R Program, Book Fair, Readers Program Support, Play it-Make it Recess, Playroom/Makerspace and activities that promote reading.

High School Library

The High School Library offers users different spaces with access to reading, research and entertainment, which allows them to apply learned strategies while they work collaboratively, highlighting ethics and respect values and developing their creativity. The services offered are: Access to bibliographic material, recreational games, documentaries and movies, curricular support, and Readers Program support.

Classroom Libraries

The Classroom Libraries are located in each of the classrooms from Preschool through High School and are managed by each Section Library. They are composed by selected material, both in English as in Spanish which supports the High School curriculum, the Balanced Literacy program implemented in Preschool and Elementary School.
